Workshop On Entrepreneurship Development: Organised by MSME(Micro,Small and Medium Enterprises)

SIT believes that the career of a student extends beyond getting a job for himself. A student can also become an entrepreneur and start his own business venture.
Keeping the above objective in mind Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium enterprises office of the development commissioner (MSME) organized a workshop on the topic: “Support for Entrepreneurial and Managerial Development of SMEs - Through incubators” for the final year students of  MBA and B. Tech on march 8th, 2010.
The workshop was organized to inspire entrepreneurial skills in students and to promote emerging technological and knowledge based innovative ventures that seek the nurturing of ideas from professionals beyond the traditional activities of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises. Such entrepreneurial ideas have to be fostered and developed in a supportive environment before they become attractive for venture capital. Hence the need arises for incubation centres: to promote and support untapped creativity of individual innovators and to assist them to become more technology based entrepreneurs.
Under this scheme, 100 “Business Incubators”(BIs) are to be set up under Technology(Host) Institutions over the next 4 years and each Business Incubator is expected to help the incubation of about 10 new ideas or units.
For this service, the budding entrepreneurs will be provided with the laboratory/workshop facilities and other assistance/guidance by the incubators. Each “Business Incubators” (BIs) will be given between Rs.4 Lakh and Rs.8 Lakh per idea/unit, limited to a total of Rs.62.5 Lakh for the ten.
